Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups chopped iceberg lettuce

- 3/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
- 1 pint (3 cups) cherry or grape tomatoes, quartered
- 6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 10-12 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 3/4 cup mayo (Best Foods/Hellmann’s)
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, but recommended)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
- Whisk together the dressing ingredients until smooth, then cover and refrigerate until needed.
- In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer the dry chopped lettuce at the bottom, followed by peas, green onions, tomatoes, and chopped eggs.
- Spread the dressing over the salad, ensuring it reaches the edges to seal it. Reserve some dressing for serving alongside.
- Top the salad with shredded cheese and crumbled bacon.
- To serve, scoop straight down to get all layers, and provide extra dressing on the side for guests.
Notes
For a twist, add diced avocado or bell peppers to the layers.
Ensure the lettuce is thoroughly dried to prevent a soggy salad.
Feel free to customize the layers with your favorite veggies.
