Ingredients
- Baking Apples (6 large)
- Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
- Cornstarch (2 tablespoons)
- Ground Cinnamon (2 teaspoons)
- Ground Ginger (1/2 teaspoon, optional)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- All-Purpose Flour (1 1/2 cups)
- Light Brown Sugar (1 cup, packed)
- Baking Powder (1 teaspoon)
- Ground Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
- Butter (3/4 cup/1 1/2 sticks, melted)
- Vanilla Ice Cream (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In the baking dish, toss apples with sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
- In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and additional cinnamon.
- Stir in melted butter until crumbly, then sprinkle this mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Store leftovers covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
To freeze, store in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 months.
