Description

These Apple Fritters are a delightful treat with irresistible flavors and a simple preparation method. Featuring apples, flour, and a sweet glaze, they make for a perfect dessert or an enjoyable breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil or other neutral oil
  • 1 pound apples peeled, cored, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine milk and eggs, whisking until mixed. Add the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Allow the batter to rest for 1 hour.
  3. Prepare a cooling rack over a rimmed baking sheet. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven or deep fryer to 375°F.
  4. Gently fold the diced apples into the batter.
  5. Working in small batches, scoop ½ cup of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes, turning to ensure even browning. Transfer fritters to the cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine powdered sugar and water until you reach the desired glaze consistency. Dip the cooled fritters into the glaze, coating the top. Set on the rack to let the glaze harden, approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Notes

Make sure the oil is at the proper temperature to achieve a crispy exterior.
You can adjust the glaze thickness by adding more water or powdered sugar to your preference.
