Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 medium bell peppers: Thinly sliced and provide a nice crunch and sweetness. Feel free to mix and match colors for a vibrant appearance!
  • 1/2 large onion: Adding depth with its savory flavor; yellow or white onions work best.
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or ground turkey: This is the heart of the wrap. Substitute with plant-based options for a vegetarian version.
  • 1 package taco seasoning: For that authentic taco flavor. You can make your own blend if you prefer.
  • 8 large wraps or tortillas: Flour tortillas provide a softer bite, but feel free to use whole wheat or low-carb alternatives like Cut Da Carb wraps.
  • 8 wedges Laughing Cow cheese: This cheese spread adds creaminess, but any soft cheese or cream cheese will work in a pinch.
  • Shredded lettuce or coleslaw: About 1/2 cup per wrap adds freshness and crunch. Store-bought pre-shredded options make it even easier.
  • Cooked taco meat: Use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup per wrap for a hearty filling.
  • Sautéed bell peppers and onion: Elevate the flavor with those caramelized veggies.
  • Guacamole or sliced avocado: A few spoonfuls are a must for creaminess; don’t skip it!
  • Drizzle of nacho cheese or a sprinkle of shredded cheese: Use as much or as little as you’d prefer for that ultimate cheesy experience.
  • Salt and pepper: Always to taste!

How to Make Crunchwrap Supreme

Sauté Peppers and Onion: Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat it on medium. Add the 2 medium thinly sliced bell peppers and 1/2 large thinly sliced onion, sautéing until they are nicely caramelized and softened. You want them to be a bit charred for that smoky flavor.

Cook the Meat: In the same skillet or a different one, cook the 1 pound of lean ground beef or ground turkey with 1 package of taco seasoning. Follow the package instructions. Cook until the meat is browned and fragrant, about 7-10 minutes.

Assemble the Wrap: Heat a clean nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Use a knife to smoothly spread a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese over the center of each wrap. Layer in about 1/2 cup of shredded lettuce, followed by 1/4 to 1/2 cup of cooked taco meat, sautéed bell peppers and onion, a scoop of guacamole, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, and some salt and pepper to taste.

Fold the Wrap: Gently fold the edges of the wrap inward toward the center, creating five pleats. It’s okay if it tears a little; that adds to the homemade charm! Carefully transfer the folded wrap to the hot skillet, seam side down. If you have one, place a heavy burger press on top to achieve an even sear.

Cook It Up: After about 5 minutes, check the bottom; it should be golden brown. Flip it over and continue cooking until both sides are crispy and golden. Alternatively, you can cook the Crunchwrap in an air fryer, placing it seam side down and cooking it at 375ºF for about 8-10 minutes until crisp.

Storing & Reheating

To store your Crunchwrap Supremes at room temperature, wrap them in foil to keep them warm for up to 2 hours. If you plan to refrigerate, place them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months in freezer-safe bags, ensuring you remove as much air as possible. You can reheat using an oven or air fryer at 350ºF for about 10 minutes, but be aware that the texture might soften. To refresh, a quick crisp in a skillet can help restore that lovely crunch.

Chef’s Helpful Tips

  • Use room temperature cheese for easier spreading—it really makes a difference in how smoothly it glides over the wrap!
  • Don’t overfill your wraps, or they may leak during cooking. Stick to the suggested measurements for proper folding.
  • If you’re in a rush, pre-cooked taco meat saves time; just heat it up!
  • Experiment with different toppings like salsa, olives, or peppers to make it your own.
  • Ensure your skillet is hot enough before adding the wraps to achieve that perfect crisp!

Crunchwrap Supreme not only fills your belly but brings a smile to your face, creating a delightful mealtime experience. Each bite bursts with flavors, and you can easily customize it to fit your cravings. I hope you enjoy making these at home as much as I do; your friends will definitely be asking for more!

Recipe FAQs

Can I make this Crunchwrap Supreme vegetarian?

Absolutely! You can replace the ground meat with black beans, lentils, or even sautéed mushrooms for a delicious meatless option. Just be sure to season it well!

How do I prevent the Crunchwrap from getting soggy?

To avoid sogginess, ensure your fillings are not too wet. Using fresh, crisp vegetables and controlling the amount of guacamole can help keep them from getting mushy.

Can I use a different type of tortilla?

Definitely! Experiment with different types of tortillas, such as corn tortillas for a gluten-free option or whole wheat for a healthier alternative. Just make sure they are large enough to fold properly.

How do I achieve the crunchiest texture?

Cooking at medium-high heat allows the exterior to get crispy while the inside remains warm without overcooking. If using an air fryer, ensure it’s preheated for the best results!
