Description

This easy sheet pan pizza is a crowd-pleaser, featuring a simple dough topped with rich cheeses and a flavorful sauce. It’s a simple homemade meal that’s great for busy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 375 grams (3 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant or active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon each dried oregano and garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 264 grams (1 cup2 tablespoons) warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for the sheet
  • 1 1/4 cup homemade pizza sauce (or purchased)
  • 1 cup (3 ounces) shredded smoked mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • optional topping: 4 cups (3 ounces) baby arugula, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  • Combine flour, yeast, salt, oregano, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Stir in warm water and olive oil until combined.
  • Knead the dough for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic, or use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, sprinkle with flour, and roll out to fit the sheet pan. Grease the pan with olive oil and place the dough inside. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  • Press the dough into the corners of the pan and cover with a towel. Let it rest for 45 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat the oven to 500°F.
  • Bake the dough for 6 minutes un-topped.
  • Remove from oven, add sauce, cheeses, and salt. Bake for an additional 6 to 8 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Optional: Mix the arugula with olive oil and salt. Top the pizza with arugula and torn basil before serving.

Notes

If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour while kneading.
Use a knife to cut the pizza to reach the edges easily.
Substitute store-bought pizza sauce for homemade if preferred.
