Ingredients
Scale
- 1 20 oz pkg refrigerated shredded hash browns
- 4 tbsp butter melted
- 4 large eggs beaten
- 1 cup half & half
- 1 cup chopped or diced ham
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Press the hash browns between thick layers of paper towels until all excess moisture is removed. Repeat if necessary.
- Combine the dry potatoes with melted butter in a mixing bowl, tossing to coat evenly.
- Transfer the buttered hash browns to a 9" pie plate, pressing them evenly across the bottom and up the sides to form a crust.
- Bake the crust at 450°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the remaining ingredients together until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture into the prepared hash brown crust.
- Lower the oven temperature to 350°F and bake for 30 minutes, or until the quiche is golden brown on top and puffy. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center; it should come out clean.
Notes
Ensure hash browns are thoroughly dried to prevent a soggy crust.
Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra flavor.
Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing for cleaner pieces.
