Description

This Honey Garlic Shrimp is packed with irresistible flavors and is so simple to make. With fresh shrimp, a sweet and tangy sauce, it’s perfect for a quick dinner or a healthy meal anytime!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds medium or large shrimp, deveined (tail on or peeled)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • heaping 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari or coconut aminos)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil

Instructions

  • Thaw the shrimp, if using frozen.
  • Mince the garlic and pat the shrimp dry. Combine the shrimp with the minced garlic, onion powder, and kosher salt in a bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch until mostly smooth. It's fine if there are a few small lumps.
  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes per side until they are opaque and fully cooked, using tongs to turn them.
  • Remove the shrimp from the skillet and turn off the heat. Add the glaze to the pan and stir until it thickens, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Once thickened, mix the shrimp back into the sauce and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
Ensure shrimp are fully cooked before serving; they should be opaque and firm.
Serve over rice or with vegetables for a complete meal.
