Description

This Peach Crostata is a delightful combination of sweet, juicy peaches enveloped in a buttery crust. It shines as a charming dessert that’s easy to prepare and perfect for sharing, making it a go-to choice for gatherings or comforting treats at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup applesauce
  • 1½ teaspoons milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 medium sized fresh peaches
  • 2 tablespoon milk or egg wash
  • 2 tablespoons sparking or coarse sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour, unsalted butter, applesauce, milk, salt, and granulated sugar until it reaches a crumbly consistency.
  2. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Place the rolled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. In a bowl, combine sliced peaches, ground cinnamon, ½ cup granulated sugar, and 3 tablespoons flour. Mix well.
  6. Spoon the peach mixture into the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.
  7. Fold the edges of the dough over the peaches, pleating as necessary.
  8. Brush the edges with milk or egg wash and sprinkle with sparking sugar.
  9. Bake the crostata for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are tender.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Feel free to use store-bought pie dough for a quicker option.
The crostata can be served warm or at room temperature.
Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
