Description

This Peppermint Hot Chocolate features a blend of creamy milk and rich semi-sweet chocolate, enhanced with a refreshing touch of peppermint. It’s the perfect winter warm-up for any chocolate lover looking for a quick and delightful homemade beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 ounces quality semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • mint candy canes, crushed
  • whipped cream, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, add the milk and gently bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Lower the heat and mix in the chopped chocolate and peppermint extract. Whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into two cups, and if desired, top it with whipped cream and crushed candy canes or a whole candy cane.

Notes

Use quality chocolate for the best flavor.
Feel free to adjust the amount of peppermint extract to your taste.
This can be made in larger batches for holiday gatherings.
