Description

These Spicy Garlic Noodles are a delightful blend of garlic, sesame, and a hint of chili, offering a quick and satisfying meal that pleases the palate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz noodles (lo mein, spaghetti, or ramen)
  • 3 tbsp shiitake mushroom oil (or sesame oil)
  • 5 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 2 green onions (sliced)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • chili oil (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water (from boiling noodles)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Boil noodles according to package directions, reserving 1/2 cup of starchy water.
  • Heat shiitake mushroom oil in a large pan and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
  • Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, and chili flakes with the garlic until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add cooked noodles, reserved water, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; toss to coat.
  • Remove from heat, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, and drizzle with chili oil if desired.

Notes

Reserve enough noodle water to create a creamy sauce texture.
Avoid burning garlic by sautéing over medium heat.
Feel free to adjust the amount of chili flakes based on personal spiciness preference.
