Description

This Tuna Melt brings irresistible flavor combined with simple prep. With creamy cheese, fresh veggies, and savory tuna, it’s perfect for a quick dinner that feels like comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon lawry’s seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice
  • 8 oz. canned tuna, drained
  • ¼ medium red onion, minced
  • 1 stalk celery, minced
  • ¼ cup minced dill pickles
  • 4-8 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 slices muenster cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or oil it and set aside.
  2. To create the tuna salad, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, Lawry’s seasoning, and pickle juice in a medium bowl.
  3. Incorporate the drained tuna, minced onion, celery, and pickles into the cream cheese mixture. Stir well and set aside.
  4. To assemble the melts, butter one side of each slice of bread with ½ tablespoon of butter.
  5. For oven melts, lay the bread butter-side down, spread ⅓ cup of tuna salad on top, and place 2 slices of Muenster cheese. Optionally add another slice of bread, then bake for 20 minutes on the prepared sheet.
  6. For stovetop melts, place a slice of cheese on the bottom, add ⅓ cup of tuna, then top with another slice of cheese and the remaining buttered bread. Cook in a skillet over medium/high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Serve the melts warm.

Notes

Feel free to switch out the cheese for a variety you enjoy.
For added crunch, consider including some chopped bell peppers in the tuna mixture.
Adjust seasoning to taste based on your preferences.
